The Montecristi semi-calado has vent holes woven in and an open weave crown. It is a Montecristi hat woven in Montecristi Ecuador but with vent holes woven into the otherwise airtight weave pattern. This elegant and mostly unique weave design permits a much greater airflow through the top of the crown. This style keeps your head the coolest of all panama hats due to the extra airflow. It's built for extreme weather conditions!
Since there are so many different types of patterns of the vent holes woven into the crown, this is generally only available in our stock items on an individual basis as stock is available. So if you see one you like, you better grab it up ASAP!
Sub-fino Panama hats are our most basic type of hat with a weave that is still of great quality, but not as tightly woven as the other grades. WPI range 80-150 Average is 120 WPIThe Classic Plantation Panama hat is known for a larger brim and great sun protection. Uses the same block as Fedora #1, but the difference is in the brim, and blocked in standard oval.
The front of the crown is 4.1" - 4.3", and the back of the crown is lower then the front measuring between 3.3" - 3.5" giving it a sloping appearance from the side profile. The height on the side is 4.1" - 4.5".
This Classic Plantation Panama hat is blocked on a semi oval hat block rather then a perfectly round one to fit better.
Snap brim on the front causing the brim to tip downward slightly and upward in the back just a little.
Stingy Brim: Almost the smallest brim we can make and still be called a brim! Snap brim on the front causing the brim to tip downward slightly and upward in the back just a little. Not a lot of shade protection, primarily it is a style thing! Some people just look great in short brims! This is a very unique brim for its rather small size.
Each Panama hat comes with one hat band of your choice, but you may want to include a few extra hat bands- a quick way to change the personality of your Panama hat!
Each and every Panama hat we sell is handmade right here in Ecuador, so no two hats are exactly alike.
