Every Montecristi Panama hat we make comes standard with a high-grade leather interior sweatband. We typically use pull-up leather or oil-tan leather made locally in Ecuador. This is the same style of band we have used for over 25 years because it is comfortable, durable, and helps protect the hat over years of wear.

This model offers a distinctive look that stands apart from more common Panama hat shapes. It is hand blocked, giving it more individual character and a more artisanal finish than a standard blocked hat. The crown is also shorter than many of our other models, measuring approximately 3.25" - 3.5" at the front pinch, which creates a lower-profile, more compact appearance. This hat is blocked in a standard oval, which fits most head shapes well. If you know you need a longer front-to-back fit, we also offer a Long Oval blocking option for added comfort and a better fit.

The side dents are shallower than on many of our other hats, giving the crown a softer and more subtle shape. If you prefer an even cleaner look, this model can also be requested without side indentations.
This style can be made with or without a center line running down the top of the crown. To see the version with that line, simply select the other model variation in this listing. That same center line detail can also be requested on nearly any hat we make just place a note in the comments box at checkout, and we will follow that request when the hat is finished.

Snap brim on the front causing the brim to tip downward slightly and upward in the back just a little.
