Every Montecristi Panama hat we make comes standard with a high-grade leather interior sweatband. We typically use pull-up leather or oil-tan leather made locally in Ecuador. This is the same style of band we have used for over 25 years because it is comfortable, durable, and helps protect the hat over years of wear.

This is a Genuine Montecristi Panama hat. Montecristi hats are prized for their finer weave, lighter feel, elegant appearance, and the long tradition of craftsmanship behind them. If you want the classic luxury Panama hat - handmade in Ecuador and built with lasting quality in mind - Montecristi is the standard by which all others are judged.
This Montecristi Fino Fino grade is for customers who want a truly high-end Montecristi Panama hat with a very fine and highly refined weave. Hats at this level can only be woven with especially fine straw and by a very skilled craftsman, because the weave is extremely fine and much more demanding to produce. This grade is an important step upward from Super Fino and is intended for customers who want a more exceptional hat with a rarer level of craftsmanship.
WPI means weaves per inch. This Montecristi Fino Fino grade generally falls in a WPI range of about 400 - 624, with an average around 520 WPI. Please note that there is more to grading a hat than just counting weaves, but WPI is one of the important factors we consider on every hat. Each hat falls within a range rather than one exact number.

<p><strong>Custom Hat Model / Special Order</strong></p> <p> Choose this option if you would like a custom hat style that is not currently available in our standard hat builder. </p> <p> <strong>Important:</strong> The hat pictured is a Western Cattleman model. This image is being used as <strong>a placeholder</strong> for custom hat styles. Selecting this option does not automatically mean you are ordering the Western Cattleman shown in the picture. </p> <p> If you have a particular style in mind, please describe it in the comments box during checkout. You may also contact us with photographs showing the crown and brim style you would like. </p> <p><strong>Western Cattleman Model</strong></p> <p> The Western Cattleman pictured is a rare style that we can produce by special order. It is particularly difficult to make using Montecristi straw because of its unusually tall crown and generally large brim. </p> <p> Our standard crown height is approximately 4", which is not tall enough for this model. To achieve the taller crown shown, you will need to add our <strong>2 CM Taller Crown Height</strong> option. This adds approximately 3/4", bringing the crown height to approximately <strong>4 3/4"</strong>. </p> <p> Due to the additional straw, special blocking requirements, and finishing work involved, this model may require additional time to complete. </p> <p> <strong>Please note:</strong> The image shown is a representation of a hat we can make, not an actual stock item like most of the hats pictured on our website.
